This hanging ornament was one of the first pieces we created for this collection.
Hands being one of our favourite motifs to paint, this piece specifically shows a development in detail and overall rendering, after painting so many hand designs over the years, and we’re very proud of it!
The design depicts a hand reaching out while being pierced through by an arrow. A lot of us overly independent people (mostly women, let’s be honest) have a hard time asking for help, expecting rejection or even worse, feeling unworthy of support. The arrow enters through the back of the hand, which leaves room to speculate the owner of hand might have fired it themselves, as a way to prevent a help request, or self-punishment.
Past experiences might try to make us hesitant to reach out for aid, but we should never let that feeling take over. We have so much to give to each other, and worthiness of help, nurture and love should never be doubted.
